Prevention Services
Lifeways Prevention plays an active role in the community by providing accurate real time information and training aimed at reducing substance use, harmful gambling behaviors and suicide, while promoting mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Prevention topics include suicide, problem gambling, mental health, trauma informed care, substance use, and so much more!
Lifeways Prevention Department sponsors and participates with the local Malheur County Prevention Coalition (MCPC), Red ribbon Week, Red Ribbon Week, Hands Around the Park, Don’t Give Up Sign Rallies, Sticker Shock, MORP Campaign, Drug Take Back Days, Dads4Life, and Wellness Fairs.
Individuals who work for the Lifeways prevention department are certified by the state of Oregon as prevention specialists. Lifeways certified prevention specialists are trained to teach classes on:
- Mental Health First Aid
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training Tune-Up
- Youth and Adult Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR)
- Toolbox
- Tobacco, Marijuana, E-cigarette Course (TMEC)
- Problem Gambling
- And Customized Training Requests
